الغاية من الخلق - 1
How is this vast universe structured and maintained by the perfectly calibrated laws that have existed since time?
If you looked at your body under a microscope, you would see a world of precision and wonder, for every cell in your body carries within it genetic information with complex codes. Have you ever asked yourself who inscribed these codes? And who placed them in their correct position?
Every towering structure and every humble house tells the story of its maker; is it conceivable that this vast universe, with its beauty, precision, and meticulous order, exists without a Creator?!
O human, just as your mind would not accept being told that a meticulously crafted smartphone appeared suddenly without a designer or maker, or that a complex network of devices operates in harmony and precision without a programmer or supervisor, likewise, a sound mind cannot accept being told that this great universe, with all its order, creativity, precise laws, and perfect system, came into existence without a Creator!
The Qur'anic verse comes clearly to direct the mind towards deep contemplation of this pivotal question. Allah, the Creator, glorified and exalted, says: Were they created by none, or were they the creators [of themselves]? [Surat at-Tūr: 35], The verse places us before three rational possibilities:
1. Could the universe have emerged from nothingness? This is impossible, for nothingness cannot bring anything into existence.
Every piece of this universe, from the smallest atom to the largest galaxy, indicates the greatness of its Creator; it is intellectually impossible for this precise order to have arisen from chaos. Reason rejects the notion that this universe emerged from nothingness, or that this exquisite and complex order is the product of blind chance!
